It Is Well With My Soul

Delaware River

Horatio Spafford

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Vine on a Cross

[This is my favorite part!]

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

[Don't you just love that?]

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

    Ben,
    I'm glad you didn't let the knowledge of the rest of Spafford's story taint your love for this hymn. I love it too. (Perhaps you already knew the rest of his story; I didn't.)

    Jumping up and down, waving my hand and shouting: "This is Wonderful, this is wonderful, Ben!!" Hey, I have to share something with you--that neighbor dude I was talking about last week? The one I was done trying to be a Light for? Well, somewhere between your blog, and reading the scripture about "be not weary in doing good"--I gave him Creamy 15-Bean Soup (cooked all day), and let him visit up here for a couple hours yesterday... I hadn't planned any of it, so it wasn't in my own strength--had to have been a God-thing, PTL. So, thank you--and God bless you BIG--love, sis Caddo

        The neighbor-friendship is back "on"--however, he continues to joke about the fires of hell; tonight he said maybe he should move to Ariz to get used to the heat. But maybe, since I've decided to take another shot at the "love your neighbor" deal, there's still a chance he'll come around to the Light...We're planning to have Thanksgiving together, so you might start praying for me now! Thanks, brother Ben--

          Hey - Know this- if he is making jokes about hell, he is thinking about it. He knows you know what you know, and Jesus can work with that.
          With enough time (Lord willing) and brownies (Caddo willing - lol) he may come around.
