One more Christmas Gift

Proclamation Ornaments
Proclamation Ornaments

A few years back my dear one, Corinne, was listening to a radio preacher – Adrian Rogers of Love Worth Finding Ministries. (http://www.lwf.org/)

At that time they were selling what they called “Proclamation Ornaments.” It is a set of tree ornaments with an Old Testament Prophecy and on the back of the ornament was the New Testament fulfillment. They were intended to be an advent devotion tool, one ornament for each day of December leading up to Christmas day.

By the time we got them our kids were in High School and College so it was not practical for us to have daily family time with everyone present.

So the first year we got them, we bought a little tree which we set up in the room with our main tree, and as we opened presents that year, you would open a present, and then you would take an ornament and look up the Old Testament and New Testament passage.

I will not say it was easy to stay on track all day, but it really added to our Christmas. We don’t do it every year, but we have done it a number of times, and by the time you are done you have such a wonderful sense of assurance in your redeemer.

BenDirector3CroppedI thought I would lay them out for you here. They do go right through Christ life so it would work well for Easter as well.

Merry Christmas

Ben

This IS a wonderful Christmas gift, Ben--and you are so thoughtful and diligent to type out the whole "works" for us!! God bless you and Corinne (sorry for my chronic misspelling of her name, previously)!!

I have been overwhelmed when we have gone through these reading all the scripture. Perhaps next year i will post it before Christmas, but it always turns up when we pull out our decorations, which we did pretty late this year. But now the work is done.
(I won't tell Corinne about your misspelling, and even if i did - she would forgive you - she's a sweetie pie)

Just so you know, I have the same spelling issue with just about any word that has more than one of the same letter--like resurrection--I habitually spell it ressurrection, then fix it, thanks to spell check! So you see, even an Eng Major is far from perfect when it comes to language arts (not to mention all the other imperfections!!). Oh, and Ben? I don't want to tie up your day with emails, but I'm in need of serious prayer again--thank you, brother!!

I have been unable to find these - there was a set on ebay at some point, but last time i looked it was no longer available. Perhaps you could contact the ministry mentioned in the post - they might have some tucked away somewhere.

Someone sent the link to this thread to me. I have so enjoyed reading through these comments. I'm actually the person who created these ornaments, and then donated them to LWF to produce them -- which is a great testimony of God's work in my life. I'll never know this side of heaven what God has done with these ornaments to bring people to himself through His word at Christmas, but it's such a blessing to read these comments. Thank you for posting about the ornaments, and Merry Christmas!

Wow - so great to have you join the conversation. I posted this a number of years ago, but every year at this time I get a number of hits and some new comments.

We love them and have used them on 4 or 5 various Christmases, especially when my kids were younger. Now we don't always get to do Christmas in our home, but I love to look these over every year.

We used to sit with a Bible and read each scripture as we opened presents on Christmas day. It really brought the meaning of it all home to each of us.

Thanks so much again for stopping by. What a blessing.
