He Felt Compassion #1

When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, "Do not weep." (Luke 7:13 NASB)

I love this phrase – He felt compassion!

This Greek word for compassion comes up 12 times in the gospels and 8 times it is Jesus doing the feeling.

This is a big deal to me. Jesus, the unchangeable one, the one who is the same, yesterday, today and forever, can be moved.

And what moves Him?

Well, in this case, it was a mother’s morning for her son.

He heard her heart cry for the life of her son, and compassion welled within the One who created them both, and answered the heart cry of a mom.

Jesus is not done listening to the hearts of moms and dads. Today is a great day to cry out for the life of your loved ones.

BenDirector3CroppedCome back tomorrow and we will look at other things that move Jesus.

See you then.

....and in the culture of the time, a widow losing her only son meant she had virtually no way to support herself, no life insurance, no back-to-college, no social security. It was a terrifying situation. And Jesus had compassion. πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for encouraging us today, to keep praying to our Compassionate one. πŸ™‚ I really loved how you showed that though He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, He can be moved. That moved me! God bless you and yours!

Yes - this is a big deal to me - What moves you Lord? It seems a worthy course of pondering. And all of us have those around us lost to us or to the Lord, and I was just encouraged as I read of this widow in her place of need and the Savior - Saving.
