A number of years ago I produced this document for a Bible study on this passage I was leading. It is based on the King James Version of the Bible which I was using more in those days. It is where I got much of the impetus for the current series we are walking through.
Interweaving of the parable of the soils taken from Matt 13, Mark 4 and Luke 8
Way side Ground
Hearken; Behold, A sower went out to sow his seed: And it came to pass when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side and it was trodden down, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, Satan, the devil, cometh immediately and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart, out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Some fell upon stony places, upon a rock, where they had not much earth: and immediately they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away, because it lacked moisture.
But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and immediately with joy and gladness receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, which for a while believe but dureth for a while: for when affliction or tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, immediately he is offended and falls away
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up with it, and choked them and it yielded no fruit.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; go forth, and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and pleasures of this life, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful and brings no fruit to perfection.
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit that sprang up and increased, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
But he that are sown and received seed into the good ground is he which in an honest and good heart, heareth the word, and receive it, and understandeth it and keep it, which also beareth fruit with patience, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
