Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14 NASB)
I know a few days ago I said you needed to be a bucket, but Jesus is changing it up a bit.
Today, I want to you to be the well.
Jesus’ promise here is that if you drink of this Water of Life (
which who - we have already determined is the Holy Spirit) YOU BECOME THE WELL.
When you take the leaky bucket of your life, and submerge it in the Living Water of the Spirit of God you don’t just come up full – you become a well – or as He says in Chapter 7, a river of living water begins to flow from your innermost being.
This is what John the Baptist told us Jesus would do – baptize us in the Holy Spirit and Fire. (hmmm – Living Fire Water – sounds dangerous on so many levels)
My mother used to scold me if she asked me how I was, and I said “good.” She would say, ‘I wasn’t asking you about your character, but about your health.’ She wanted me to say ‘I am well.’
So there it is – that’s my declaration today – I am Well.
When you are filled – baptized – in the Holy Spirit – you become a source. The plan is for you to actually dispense the Spirit.
Do you find that leaky bucket people show up in your life from time to time? Jesus’ intention is that they be allowed to submerge their vessel in your (inexhaustible) supply of Holy Spirit.
And then when your (inexhaustible) supply runs a little low (is exhausted), you can go to your brother or sister, and send your leaky bucket down for a refreshing.
I want you to be WELL today. Someone near you is thirsty.
See you tomorrow
