"Jesus and the Disciples on the Road to Emmaus" Pieter Brueghel the Elder (1526/1530–1569)/Philips Galle (1537–1612) - Wikimedia Commons

“Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32 NASB)

So it is Easter Sunday night and 2 unnamed disciples of Jesus were headed over to a town called Emmaus, about 7 miles from Jerusalem. Interesting that they are unnamed since all through the Gospels we get, Peter, James and John went here, did this, were with Jesus.

But check out how Jesus reveals himself, first to Mary – a woman – and next to a couple of nameless faceless disciples.

But His method of revealing Himself really interests me this morning. He didn’t just jump out and say “Taahhh Daaahh!” He walked through “the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms” (vs 44) as they walked the seven miles between Jerusalem and Emmaus.

Do you know the sensation they were feeling, this divine heartburn?

Have you sat down with the Word in your lap and felt that warm glow grow to an intense fire that can’t be quench, but needs to be spread?

Pay attention to that heartburn! When God makes this type of deposit in your heart and mind, it is so that He can use it in your life. [Tweet This]

When the Lord uses His divine highlighter to bring some scripture to your attention, it is because there will soon be a test on that very subject, and if you have this particular Word hidden in your heart, you will have a much easier time passing.

Have you seen this in your life?

So many times I find my self sharing exactly what God has shown me that very day with folks.

How about you?

BenThanks for coming by today.

Make sure you’re listening.
