Dangerous Road Ahead

Caution sign

And when He had come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs; they were so exceedingly violent that no one could pass by that road. ~ Matthew 8:28

We left off a couple weeks ago with an account of Jesus calming the seas. Now when He and the boys reach the shores on the other side, they are faced with an impassable road.

Seems as though somebody did not want Jesus coming to this side of the lake.

How do you deal with resistance?

Have you ever sensed that God has given you direction and at every step the path itself is against you?

The trick is discerning whether it was my idea, and God is preserving me by closing the door, or is it God’s idea, and the hater of my soul would rather have me dead than walk in the will of my Father.

Jesus knew.

Have you ever tried to walk the path and seen the road signs that say, “Demon ahead, find another path?”

What would you do?

Ben NelsonThanks for coming by.

See you tomorrow.

We will always see this sign when walking in the will of the Father. We can't help but be attacked. Sadly I run into more and more people who are just so tired or so scared that they'd rather "focus on the good" and/or not think about evil because "if I think about it it'll stir it up." Attitudes like this are cause for alarm. You can't wish the demons away and you can't ignore them ... by doing so we leave ourselves ripe for the picking.
To answer your question (kinda) on the whole - if I don't experience some resistance then I'm out of God's will. But I love how Jesus handled things - He strode right into the fray without fanfare and without fear. If we indeed have the Holy Spirit residing within, He will lead us, protect us, and give us the strength we need to combat the enemy.
    Be Blessed!

This is really good Felicia. Well said.

I love this about this and the account right before it - storms - demons - Jesus just takes it all in stride.

      Thank you

Discernment is a tricky thing Ben. We have those who want to see a demon under every rock and will say so. There are others who want to live their lives free of any restraint. The line is fine. Discerning God's way is always the trick. When you get the answer let me know please. 😛

Would that there were such clearly marked signs, Bro! I didn't realize that the clinic, where I was yesterday, was overrun with them--until I was talking with Bubba Lar by phone afterward. As soon as he said that was it, I saw them plain as day--'course I was already well-trampled on by then. But learning is good--as there's always a next time, a next place. God bless you and the fam--sis Cj
