I love to pick up my Bible reading stick and poke around the those smoldering, glowing red letters and see if I can stir up some flames. Today, right here at Another Red Letter Day headquarters (that would be my big comfy chair) something is stirring. Come and see!
I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. - Matthew 11:25
This fascinates me. I often find myself wishing I had a better education. I love to hear scholars talk about the original languages and folks who can dig back into the culture of the times and really give deep understanding to what we read in scripture.
But I know this.
You don’t need a degree for God to reveal Himself to you through Jesus and His word.
You don’t need to know Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic to walk in communion with the Father.
You don’t need to have a degree in animal husbandry to be a sheep and follow a shepherd.
You don’t need to be an ophthalmologist to see.
Does this mean I should try to be ignorant? Should I pursue a degree in “Country Bumpkinism?”
But let your search for knowledge be a search to know God, to know Jesus, to know the Holy Spirit rather than a search to know about God, or to even to prove God.
Keep your heart childlike.
Keep your faith simple.
I am going for a degree in following.
Following 101 = is there a shepherd’s crook somewhere in front of me?
See you again soon.
