got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself. - John 13:4 NASB

I love this snippet from when Jesus washed the disciples feet.

Reminds me of

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. - Philippians 2:5-8 NASB

He took off  - He put on.

And it reminds me of

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, - Colossians 3:9-10 NKJV

We must take off – we must put on.

Put on the new man!

What new man?

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. - Galatians 3:27 NKJV

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. - Romans 13:14 NKJV

Lord Jesus, help me put off the old man and his lusts today, and help me to put on Christ, and walk in the new life you have resurrected me to. Let my spirit cry “Yes Lord” today.

Ben NelsonBlessings.

Yes. Just this morning I read (in the novel Gilead by Marilynne Robinson) that, as Coleridge said, Christianity is a way of living, not a doctrine (of course we understand there are doctrines, but I think what he meant is that doctrines are worthless if one lives in the old way).

That is so true - i love what jesus says in John 7

"If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. - John 7:17 NKJV

You have no right to judge doctrine if you are not willing to walk it out.

thanks for stopping by and commenting Tracy!

Romans 6: 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
