The Father's Heart

Pascack Bible Church

As I mentioned a few days ago, my church home is walking through the 47 days preceding Easter, sharing daily meditations written by various leaders in the body.

They are a real blessing to me. Here is today’s written by my sister Helen.

To be clear, I had only brothers growing up, and at a conference we attended together, I was bemoaning the fact that I really had no sister. Helen volunteered, and since she has been a sister to me, in many ways.

I want to share with you my sister Helen’s meditation for today:

Matthew 8:16, 17 Helen Carroll, Leadership Council

When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: "HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES." - Matthew 8:16-17 NASB

From the beginning God spoke of His plan to redeem mankind from the curse and the effects of sin. In the Old Testament, especially in Isaiah 53, we read the prophecies declaring that Jesus will purchase our salvation - body, soul and spirit. These verses in Matthew 8 demonstrate that promised salvation - He delivered the demon-possessed with a word and healed all who were sick.

Jesus is " the exact representation of the Father's nature" (Hebrews 1:3), and in our text He is revealing the Father's heart of compassion, to touch all who now come to Him. We are the objects of His affection. He wants only good things for us.

Do we believe He's willing to do the same today - for you? for me? " We walk by faith and not by sight" (2 Cor. 5:7), which means His Word/Truth is a superior reality compared to what we see and experience in the natural realm. So, let us come to Him " who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think."

Ben NelsonThanks much for stopping in today.

See you again soon.
