Here is another great piece from our “47 Days of Prayer” booklet. Alissa is a woman of God an awesome demonstration of a praying wife, mom and daughter, as well as a diligent leader in the Body of Christ.
Psalm 136:1 Alissa DiCarlo, Leadership Council
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting. - Psalms 136:1 NASB
If we are to give thanks to the Lord because He is good and because His love endures forever, then our thanksgiving should not rely on our particular circumstances. It is easy to thank God when things are going the way we want; however, being thankful in difficult times can be challenging.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” It doesn’t say some circumstances, it says all. How is this possible?
I believe that the only way is to focus on God’s goodness and love, not our situation. The Bible says that God loved us first, that nothing can separate us from His love and that He will never leave us or forsake us. The Almighty God sacrificed His son for our sins so that we could spend eternity with Him. If we truly believe this then how could we NOT thank Him?
So, when life is going great, give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever. When life is difficult, give thanks to the Lord for He is good His love endures forever. Rain or shine, give thanks to the Lord for He is good His love endures forever.
