I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride;
I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam.
I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey;
I have drunk my wine and my milk.
Eat, friends; Drink and imbibe deeply, O lovers.
Song of Songs 5:1
Have you ever prayed a prayer and felt like Jesus did not even hear you?
Well here’s one that Jesus loves to answer.
May my beloved come into his garden And eat its choice fruits! - Song of Songs 4:16
This is where we left our maiden.
She gave her garden, her heart and soul, to the One she loved, her Shepherd King.
Check out His reaction – it is over the top!
I hear people talk about “accepting Jesus as their personal Savior, or asking Jesus to come into their lives. But that is not what is going on here.
She says 'I give you my life' – He says ‘you've got yourself a deal.’
Then He starts walking around the garden of her life and saying ‘mine, mine, mine, mine, oh, and that too – mine.’
This single verse has four ‘I’s and nine ‘my’s.
Do you think she can tell that she is His? Do you think she wonders how Jesus feels about her?
He has taken possession of every part of her life, and is pleased with what He has purchased. So pleased, in fact, that He throws a party!
Are you ready to give yourself to this Man, Jesus? He wants to possess all of you. We’ll look at some of the word pictures next week, but today – get this one thing. Jesus does not want a small patch of petunias in your life. He wants the whole garden to call His own.
Can you pray this with me today?
Awake, O north wind,
And come, wind of the south;
Make my garden breathe out fragrance,
Let its spices be wafted abroad.
May my beloved come into his garden
And eat its choice fruits!
