Yesterday we looked at John 1:18 and the fact that Jesus is an ‘explanation of God.’ Today, I simply want to state that it is the “hope of Glory” that we become further explanations of God.
No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. - John 1:18 NASB
The Father’s intent in pouring out His Holy Spirit to abide in us, and His invitation for us to abide in Him (was it an invitation or a command – I guess an invitation from the King of kings and Lord of lords would pretty much play out as a command anyway) was to the end that we would be the Body of Christ to this world – a further explanation of Him. When folks look at us they should see the light that was placed in us by Jesus.
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 5:16 NASB
So – to restate what I said yesterday:
You see, In Christ, you are God explained.
Do they wonder about God’s purpose?
In Christ, you are a demonstration of what moves God.
Do you wonder about God’s passions?
In Christ, you are a demonstration of God’s passions.
Do you wonder about God’s priorities?
In Christ, you are a demonstration of God’s priorities.
Do you wonder about God’s plans?
In Christ, you are God’s plan.
Jesus is the Word made flesh – the Word in a body.
He is still the Word in a body, and you are that body – the body of Christ – not longer in one place but broken and distributed – cast upon the water – floating hither and yon, as an explanation of the Father to all of His creation.
You are a letter – a personal message from the Father – written in flesh and blood and sent to the world you live in. [Tweet This]
Lord, help me to shine – Help me to be bright enough so folks can read the letter written by your hand on the papyrus of my life.
Walk in the light.
