Where’s the Life? ~ A Friday Ramble

1958 Rambler

Knowing what the Bible says does not mean you know God.

You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent. - John 5:38 NASB

The Bible is NOT a textbook full of facts about God.

The Bible is NOT an owner’s manual or life’s instruction book.

Don’t get me wrong – I believe in the study of Scripture. But these words in John 5 ring inside me today.

I have heard the Bible called a life guide and all these other things.

But Jesus said:

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; - John 5:39 NASB

The Bible is not the life – it is the book of Jesus.

Jesus is The Life.

David tells us that if we hide the Word in our heart it will help us avoid sin – and that’s a good thing.

Your word I have treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You. - Psalms 119:11 NASB

That’s a good promise

But there is a better promise; there is a new thing – a new covenant based on better promises.

For instance:

When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. - Colossians 2:13-14 NASB

ben rin and noraOK – rambles over for now folks – move along – nothing to see here [grin]

See you again soon.

Thank you, Mr. Ben, for reminding us that we need more instructions or facts about God. We need the Living Word inside of us. God bless you!
