If you remember – our girl – the bride – has been asked by her friends – what is so special about your lover?
The New King James begin with
“My beloved is white” ~ Song of Songs 5:10 NKJV
Ok – I am thinking – you can do better than that – how about this
My beloved is radiant! ~ NIV
Ok – we are getting warmer. But here’s the winner:
My beloved is DAZZLING! ~ NASB
There – that hits the spot – Jesus is dazzling!
She is going to go into great detail, but the first thing out of her mouth is Dazzling.
He takes my breath away.
Reminds me of Revelation 1 when John – Jesus’ best friend – first meets his resurrected Lord.
Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. ... and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. - Revelation 1:12, 16-17 NASB
Some of Jesus’ followers keep it on the QT – they don’t make a big deal about their ‘relationship’ with Jesus. It’s tempting to keep quiet. It’s tempting to lay low.
But our girl – His beautiful bride – she can’t keep quiet. She’s love sick – She’s overwhelmed.
Part of it may be that we think of Jesus like the guy in the Sunday school papers.
We don’t see Him as she did.
We don’t see Him like John did. Check out some more of his description of Jesus.
Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash. His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, - Revelation 1:12-17 NASB
That is Jesus today.
He’s not in a manger – cooing and drooling.
He’s not sitting on a rock with a child on His knee.
He’s not hanging on a cross, beaten and bloody.
He is sitting on a throne – THE throne.
And He is DAZZLING.
I know I promised a ten-fold description – it’s coming – soon.
