What are you working for?

Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal. - John 6:27 NASB

These red letters jumped off the page this morning, and I heard the Lord asking me:

What are you working for?

I’m bringing home the bacon.

I’m making bread to put in the bank.

Putting food on the table.

Am I totally missing what Jesus said here?

Is He really giving us a direct instruction not to work for food, but to put all our labor toward eternal food, and that all our payment will come at His hand?

As Fagen says in the Musical “Oliver:”

I think I’d better think it out again!

Ben NelsonJust thinking aloud.

Thanks for coming by.

Thank you, Mr. Ben , for thinking out loud and helping us to too! I read a little devotion the other day that said all the world is talking about bodies that are undernourished but no one talks about souls that are undernourished. God bless you!
