A few thoughts first:

I know there are those who characterize Bethel Church in Redding CA as a "name it and claim it" church in the worst sense of the phrase. I've heard it said that they preach a gospel where if you're not healed you don't have "enough faith."

That could not be further from the truth.

I implore you to watch at least until Bill Johnson gets up, at about 5:50. He gives a small taste of the back story for this song. When I heard the circumstances of its writing I was reminded of the famous back story for the old hymn, "It Is Well With My Soul" by Horatio G. Spafford.

Miracles by Chris Quilala

The One who made the blind to see
Is moving here in front of me, moving here in front of me
The One who made the deaf to hear
Is silencing my every fear, silencing my every fear

[Chorus:]
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles

The One who does impossible is
Reaching out to make me whole
Reaching out to make me whole
The One who put death in its place
His life is flowing through my veins
His life is flowing through my veins

[Chorus x2:]
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles

The God who was and is to come
The power of the Risen One
The God who brings the dead to life
You're the God of miracles!
You're the God of miracles!
[x2]

[Chorus:]
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles

The God who was and is to come
The power of the Risen One
The God who brings the dead to life
You're the God of miracles!
You're the God of miracles!

[Chorus:]
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles
I believe in You, I believe in You
You're the God of miracles

Come and worship Him with me today, will you?

Blessings,

Ben

This is Messiah week at Another Red Letter day, so for Worship Wednesday I thought you might enjoy this rendition of Handel's "For Unto Us A Child Is Born." This is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, Sir Collin Davis conducting.

Note: The Lyrics come from Isaiah 9:6.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6 KJV

A bit of Christmas worship for this fine December Wednesday.

"Noel"
( by Chris Tomlin, featuring Lauren Daigle)

Love incarnate, love divine
Star and angels gave the sign
Bow to babe on bended knee
The Savior of humanity
Unto us a Child is born
He shall reign forevermore

Noel, Noel
Come and see what God has done
Noel, Noel
The story of amazing love!
The light of the world, given for us
Noel

Son of God and Son of man
There before the world began
Born to suffer, born to save
Born to raise us from the grave
Christ the everlasting Lord
He shall reign forevermore

Noel, Noel
Come and see what God has done
Noel, Noel
The story of amazing love!
The light of the world, given for us
Noel

Here's a great Christmas song. Thanks to Pastor J. over at Lillie-Put for reminding me of this wonderful song.

"Light Of The World"

The world waits for a miracle
The heart longs for a little bit of hope
Oh come, Oh come Emmanuel

The child prays for peace on earth
And she's calling out from a sea of hurt
Oh come, Oh come Emmanuel

And can you hear
The angels singing

Glory to the light of the world
Glory the light of the world is here

The drought breaks
With the tears of a mother
A babies cry is the sound
Of love come down
Come down, Emmanuel

He is the song for the suffering
He is messiah
The Prince of Peace has come
He has come, Emmanuel

Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
For all who wait
For all who hunger
For all who've prayed
For all who wander
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel

Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel

The world waits for a miracle
The heart longs for a little bit of hope
O come, O come, Emmanuel

Take Courage -

by Kristene Dimarco

Slow Down take time
Breath in he said
He’ll reveal what’s to come

The thoughts in his mind
Always higher than mine
He’ll reveal all to come

Take courage my heart
Stay steadfast my soul
He’s in the waiting
He’s in the waiting

Hold onto your hope
As your triumph unfolds
He’s never failing He’s never failing

Sing praise my soul Find strength in joy
Let his words lead you on

Do not forget His great faithfulness
He’ll finish all he’s begun

(And) You who hold the stars
Will call them each by name
You’ll surely keep your promisee to me
That I will rise in your victory

Psalm 100

[A Psalm of praise.]

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us,
and not we ourselves;
we are his people,
and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him,
and bless his name.

For the LORD is good;
his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 100:1-5 KJV

Psalm 100:1-5 KJV

I stuck with the good old KJV on this one because the words are so familiar and ignite in me worship from a deep place.

Take a minute to notice the active verbs in this psalm.

Make
Serve
Come
Know
Enter

Let's make our Thanksgiving an active and intentional demonstration of worship today and every day.

I've been loving this song. We've used it heavily for the last few weeks at church and it has been really rich!

Enjoy

You can pick - live or studio with interview (or both if you're like me)

What A Beautiful Name

You were the Word at the beginning
One With God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You our Christ

What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

You didn't want heaven without us
So Jesus, You brought heaven down
My sin was great, Your love was greater
What could separate us now

What a wonderful Name it is
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a wonderful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

Death could not hold You, the veil tore before You
You silenced the boast, of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring, the praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again

You have no rival, You have no equal
Now and forever, God You reign
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name, above all names

What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

I think you'll love this.

The Cause of Christ
by Kari Jobe, Benjamin Hastings, and Bryan Fowler

Verse 1

The only thing I want in life,
is to be known for loving Christ,
to build His church to love His bride
and make His name known far and wide

Chorus

For this cause I live
for this cause I'd die
I surrender all for the Cause of Christ
All I once held dear I will leave behind
For my joy is this, oh the Cause of Christ

Verse 2

He is all my soul will prize,
regardless of the joy or trial
When agonizing questions rise,
In Jesus, all my hope abides

Chorus

For this cause I live
for this cause I'd die
I surrender all for the Cause of Christ
All I once held dear I will leave behind
For my joy is this, oh the Cause of Christ

Bridge

Jesus my Jesus, for Your glory, for Your name
Jesus my Jesus, I will only sing Your praise x3

Chorus

For this cause I live
for this cause I'd die
I surrender all for the Cause of Christ
All I once held dear I will leave behind
For my joy is this, oh the Cause of Christ

For my, Joy is this, oh the Cause of Christ

Outro

It is not fame that I desire,
nor stature in my brother's eye
I pray it's said about my life,
that I live more to build Your name than mine

Enjoy this beautiful time of worship.

"It Is Well"

Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well with me

Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can't see

And this mountain that's in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well

So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name [repeat last line during 3rd run]

It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul

It is well it is well with my soul

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You Lord
Through it all, through it all
It is well with me.

Here's one from Martin Smith called the Song of Solomon. I loved this video by Greg Fromholz. The story in the video is more like the prodigal son. I think you'll love it too.

Over the mountains
Over the sea
Here you come running my lover to me

When I feel the cold of winter
In this cloak of sadness, I need you
All the evil things that shake me
All the words that brake me, I need you

Over the mountains
Over the sea
Here you come running my lover to me

Do not hide me from your presence
Pull me from this shadows, I need you
Beauty wrap your arms around me
Sing your song of kindness, I need you

Over the mountains
Over the sea
Here you come running my lover to me

All through the valleys
Through the dark of night
Here you come running
To hold me till it's light

Over the mountains
Over the sea
Here you come running my lover to me

All through the valleys
Through the dark of night
Here you come running
To hold me till it's light

I'll come running
I'll come running
come running back to you

I'll come running
come running
come running back to you

I'll come running
come running
come running back to you

Over the mountains
Over the sea
Here you come running my lover to me

All through the valleys
Through the dark of night
Here you come running
To hold me till it's light

Come running
Come running
Come running back to you
