What do you do when you just can’t get past an obstacle in your life?

Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. - Mark 11:23

You speak to it.

What do you do when you come across someone broken, beaten and ashamed?

But Peter said, "I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene--walk!" And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. - Acts 3:6-8

You speak to him.

You speak to HIM.

What do you do when you find yourself without any hope of any future?

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; - Romans 10:9

You speak to HIM.

What do you do for this one who saved you, and raised you, and filled you, and set you on the path of life?

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" - Romans 10:14-15

You speak to them - all of them.

Conclusion:

Rembrandt's "The Storm on the Sea of Galilee"

What do you do with a high fever?

Then He got up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon's home. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her. And standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediately got up and waited on them. - Luke 4:38-39

Jesus spoke to it.

What do you do with a barren fig tree?

Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again!" And His disciples were listening. - Mark 11:13-14

Jesus spoke to it.

What do you do with a violent storm on a raging sea?

And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. - Mark 4:37-39

Jesus spoke to it.

What do you do with an unclean spirit?

When He got out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him,…
…For He had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!" - Mark 5:2, 8

Jesus spoke to it.

What do you do with a dead girl?

While He was still speaking, they came from the house of the synagogue official, saying, "Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?”…
... Taking the child by the hand, He said to her, "Talitha kum!" (which translated means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!"). - Mark 5:35, 41

Jesus spoke to her.

But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” ~ Matthew 8:8

Yesterday we jumped off this little diving board into a conversation about the power of words.

Today, I just want to point out some important precautions.

Words work both ways.

Words you have heard from heaven set heaven in motion. In the same manner words filled with death, set death in motion in your life.

When you express your “faith,” your expectation of failure and futility using your very powerful words, you set gears in motion that you don’t want turning.

I am not talking about some “power of positive thinking” here. I am saying that because words are so powerful we much treat them as we would a fire. That is the word picture James uses. Words are like fire.

So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. James 3:5-6

Fire is a the most wonderful and horrible phenomenon. It can be a power for good and for evil.

So – Watch you mouth!

BenThanks for coming by.

See you again soon.

This is a big deal. It’s HUGE:

But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” ~ Matthew 8:8

How are things accomplished in this kingdom? I am talking about this kingdom where Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, this Kingdom of Heaven that is entered by faith in Christ, this Kingdom of God.

Words.

Words are the currency of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Perhaps I am selling it a bit short here. Not simply words, not just any words, this kingdom runs on words of faith.

Don’t get me wrong here. Faith results in actions.

But understand this:

Faith filled words,
words filled with expectation
words filled with hope

set heaven’s gears turning.

Angels move at the sound of His voice.

Oceans obey His voice.

The universe was created by a grand heavenly voice filled eager expectation.

His voice, the voice of God, the words of God, the Word of God, is the most powerful force, the most powerful substance, the most powerful being in the universe.

And He wants you to speak.

Faith filled words,
words filled with expectation
words filled with hope

to set heaven’s gears into motion.

As you set your affections on Him, and begin to speak His words, the words He puts in your heart, the words He speaks in your soul, as you agree with Him, and let your (His) words flow, your world will be moved, your universe will come under heaven’s influence.

BenCome back tomorrow for the flip side.

See you then.

Ben
