Today, we take a step back. We’ll come back Hebrews 1:3 tomorrow. But to start the week, I thought I would bring an interesting way to track the message of Hebrews from start to finish.
The word “therefore” shows up twenty-four times in the NASB translation of Hebrews. Seven times the writer compounds it with “since.”
If we track these seven “Therefore, since,” combos, we will have a sense of the case the writer is building.
I’m not going to add anything, other than a ‘so long’ at the end. I think these verses speak well for themselves.
Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, – Hebrews 2:14 NASB
Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience, – Hebrews 4:6
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. – Hebrews 4:14
Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. – Hebrews 7:25
Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, – Hebrews 10:19
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, – Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; – Hebrews 12:28

… also, Let us come boldly to the throne of grace (verse 16) Well, it looks like this is based on a different “therefore”.
… let us draw near (verse 22)
