Truth

A little tidbit from the Word this morning.

Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. – 1 John 3:18

Notice in this verse the contrast between words and truth. Not all words are truth, and truth is not simply words. It’s not even just true words.

Truth, in the New Testament sense, is not facts, or right ideas. Truth is expressed in deeds, in life.

Jesus personifies Truth by telling His disciples, “I am the Way the Truth and the Life.” (John 14:6)

We are called to walk truth, to live truth not just speak it.

This requires that our words be truthful for sure, but it’s so much more.

Our life must demonstrate the Truth that resides within us. Our deeds must speak the Truth. And like Jesus, our Lives must speak the Way to the Father.

BenHeadshotThanks for giving me a minute.

Walk the Truth!

Ben.

  1. I am reading this blog after having read your story about Peter’s Denial. What does this life of truth lived out look like. How do we fight the good fight of faith? What do the weapons of our warfare that bring forth the life of truth look like?

    1. Hi Pastor J. You always ask such great questions. I got on this because someone left a comment on facebook somewhere saying you need more than just truth to make you free, you have to do something. He was basically saying that truth was simply information. My inner voice was screaming NO when I read that. Truth is alive, active, and so much more than facts.

To your questions…WOW…that’s where we need to take the conversation.

      Thanks for processing with me.
